The Rainier Arms MARS (Magazine Advanced Release System) for Glock, designed by Battleline Industries, is a drop in release which is compatible with all GEN 1 - 3 Glock pistols in calibers 9mm, 40 S&W, and .357 SIG. The MARS is made of 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum, with a Type III Class 2 MIL-SPEC hard coat anodizing finish and stainless steel hardware for maximum corrosion resistance and durability. The MARS control surfaces are slightly extended and feature an aggressive texture for a faster reload and positive control.
The MARS is COMPLETELY ambidextrous, giving both left and right hand shooters as well as competitors, a tactical advantage with the ability to release the magazine using the index finger from either side. The MARS is a force multiplier in a combative situation, enabling the left and right hand shooter better options to manipulate magazine changes with speed and efficiency without disturbing the proper firing grip and allowing for more accurate follow up shots.

I was at the range and I wanted to shoot my friends Gen 4 Glock. He shoots right hand just like I do. I ran a magazine out from his G17. I went to eject the magazine and it would not come out. I pushed hard and pulled on the bottom. He laughed at me and told me he switched sides so he could use his middle finger to eject the magazine. I pushed it and it popped right out. I practiced a few times and it worked perfect for me. I do not have very big hands; I would say they are “normal” hands. I have always had to loosen or change my grip to get my thumb to engage the magazine release. Now I can keep my grip and drop the magazine.
I picked up a Gen 4 Glock but did not like it as much as my gen 3. I switched the magazine release and it worked for me, most of the time. I found that when shooting under stress I would revert back to my thumb to drop the magazine; of course it would not drop. This could be a life or death mistake under fire.
I first saw this at Shot Show and fell in love with it. I am so glad it finally came out. It works flawlessly and is very natural. You can drop your magazine from the right or left or both at the same time. Now I can change my magazine with confidence even under stress. I trust my life to this little add on.
The MARS is worth every penny and it is not very many pennies for such a revolutionary leap. Why has Glock not put this in every gun? It is an easy drop in part.

Then I discovered the Rainier Arms MARS designed by Battleline Industries! From the looks of it I really liked it but I was slightly skeptical since there weren't any reviews here yet. Regardless, I decided to give the MARS a try anyway. Once it arrived I inspected it thoroughly and immediately started to see that this was no doubt a quality part. The jimping felt amazing on both sides, the black finish looked great, and the technology was simply fascinating for such a small part. The big question remained, would it actually work?
I got the MARS installed in a couple minutes, grabbed an empty mag, and began manipulating the mag release. The MARS was amazing!! This was the missing part I'd been looking for all along. The tolerances on the MARS were awesome. There was no play, it had a great tactile feel when using the thumb to release the mag, and the same held true on the opposite side using my index and middle finger. I performed the same function tests in my other hand and what could I say, I loved it! The only thing left was to load up the mags and hit up the range.
One week later and 1000 rounds later, the Glock 19 and MARS were a perfect match!! Whether my mags were full, empty, clean, or dirty, everything ran flawlessly. I no longer had to change my grip to do mag changes with my non-dominant hand and I loved that I had options no matter which hand was used. It was official, my Glock 19 was now perfect!! Battleline Industries knocked it out of the park with this one!!
