I probably would have purchased the forged lower if it weren't for the ambi mag release on this lower. Others say ambi but then only give you a right hand bolt catch. I shoot left and this gives me all of the controls I need on the left side. Great quality and fit relatively well with an alt brand upper. (Posted on 2/15/2017)
Great Ambi LowerReview by

This is a great lower that looks and handles great. The ambi controls work great. My only complaint is that the set screw that holds the takedown pin and spring is very small and if you lose it Rainer doesn't have replacements for it. I lost mine and the grip I was planning to use wouldn't hold the spring and pin in place, but a extra Magpul grip did. I was able to get it to work but it wasn't ideal. I would be willing to pay for the replacement screw for my mistake but when I called I was told that they didn't carry extras. I am sure I am not the first person to loose it. Other than issue with the screw its a great lower and I would still recommend it. (Posted on 2/10/2017)

Trying to decide if it's worth the price? If you're left handed, it's absolutely worth it and I'll tell you why. It comes with the left hand magazine release and ejection side bolt release installed. I have an HVA left hand magazine release on my other AR but I prefer the position of this release, The ejection side bolt release is invaluable. The roll pin that installs the bolt catch is replaced by a threaded allen head screw so it's MUCH easier to install. I quite like the shape of the trigger guard as well. It's built in so there's no gap or uncomfortable edge to rub your knuckles against, no roll pins to install either. Overall, it's an excellent lower and I have not regretted making the investment for one second. (Posted on 1/24/2017)

Ambi lower for lefty!Review by

This has to be one of the best ambi lowers out there for us lefties; quality is second to none. A solid 9/10 on the awesome scale. It works well with every magazine I tried, all dropped freely. The lower parts went in without any fuss. Daniel Defense and Stag uppers matched perfectly. Having said that, I have two complaints.

First, the design and shape of the magazine release lever on the left side of the lower. It has a pointy protrusion where your left finger makes contact with the paddle lever and after about 10-12 magazine dumps your finger gets a little sore. I think a rectangular design would have been best.

Last, I wish that Rainer Arms manufactured a bolt catch and magazine release button to purchase that matched the pattern of the included ambi bolt catch and magazine release lever. V-Seven and Seekins parts didn't match as well as I'd hoped. Given this fix, I would rate this lower a 10/10 on the awesome scale.

Great ambi lower. Very similar to the other San Tan lowers I have but wanted one without the QD slings cups in case I ever wanted to go with a PDW stock. No complaints. (Posted on 5/28/2016)
