Buying the gun barrel - Pick the barrel that suits your needs

You have to ask yourself a few questions before buying a barrel. Are you going for tactical duty rifle, are you going for precision, or for long range shooting? Three important factors of a barrel are length, gas system length, and twist rate. Longer barrel allows pressure to form behind the bullet and increases the velocity of a bullet. Twist rate affects the stability of a bullet - heavier bullets need greater twist rate.  Some common twist rates of AR15 barrels are 1:7, 1:8, 1:9, 1:10. So if you use greater caliber and heavier bullets you will get greater twist rate. For instance, if you use .224 caliber and 45gr ammo you will go for 1:12 twist rate barrel. If you use 90gr ammo and the same caliber you will go for 1:7 twist rate barrel. Longer gas tube makes the shooting softer.
